Michele Sutter, Director and co-founder of MOVI, Money Out Voters In led the successful 2014 push for the MOVI sponsored SB 1272, The Overturn Citizens United Act through the California legislature. The bill became Proposition 49 and she was briefly the Chair of the Yes on Proposition 49 Campaign Committee, before Prop 49 was wrongly removed from the ballot by order of the Supreme Court of California.
Finally, Prop 59 The Overturn Citizens United Act was restored to the California ballot and passed by Californians in November of 2016. Michele chaired the Yes on 59 Committee and continues to work to end corporate constitution rights and promote civic engagement.
Michele is a writer, teacher, producer, and activist. She is a former Story Editor at HBO and a former co-chair of The 29th Street Project, a New York City based theater artists' cooperative. She also produced the 2009 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award winning musical adaptation of Aristophanes' The Wasps. A former ESL teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District, she is a graduate of Princeton University and a recipient of a Nicholl Fellowship in screenwriting from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
